Synopsis: Added: Aug 30, 2018 5:13 pm The Broad Agency Annoucment (BAA) for Truck Platooning Early Deployment Evaluation, Phase 1. See attached Solicitation.

The objective of this BAA is to develop an innovative and synergistic truck platooning pilot deployment concept, to build partnerships among stakeholders, and to prepare a comprehensive deployment plan and proposal that enables the assessment of such a concept. It will accelerate deployment of cooperative automated vehicle technologies to support the freight industry, enabling trucks to safely follow each other at distances that enable the vehicles to save fuel, thereby enhancing the economic competitiveness of freight shippers and lowering the costs of landed goods for consumers. It is the intent to partner with entities that have already completed the development of truck platooning systems and are ready to deploy in-service freight hauling.

This requirement is comprised of two phases. Phase 1, Concept Development, will be conducted under Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts. Phase 2 will be conducted under a follow-on contract or assistance agreement. Issuance of a follow-on contract or assistance agreement is at the discretion of the Government. Only entities receiving a contract for the Phase 1 requirement will be eligible for a contract or assistance agreement under Phase 2.
